How did Gen Terao start BALMUDA in Tokyo?

In his own words on the About page, Terao was the only employee at the start, and his room was the entire company. He designed the first product himself, had the parts made in a small factory and assembled everything at home. He even wrote the instruction manual by hand. The brand says it trusts its senses and creates products "simply because we want them to exist."

The product timeline builds from there: The Toaster reached the U.S. in 2019, after the kettle of 2016. The Speaker arrived in 2020, inspired by Terao's days in a rock band, then The Lantern and The Brew in 2021. MoonKettle followed in 2024 as the brand's "first global product." The team worked out that humidity was the reason.
